Every time you’ve returned from vacation, dreaming about the days when you can just travel. Your desk area holds sunset-filled pictures, grand views from above tree lines, and your smiley faces from vacations gone by.
These scenes have likely fueled your Nomad Life dreams. They should. I can’t imagine someone who’s never traveled envisioning a life of full-time travel. Who wouldn’t want to be on a perpetual vacation?
What Is a Vacation?
But let’s look at what a vacation is:
It’s a break from your ordinary life.
You likely eat the rich foods.
You probably budgeted to spend more on vacation than what you spend during your ordinary life.
Cramming all the things into your day OR relaxing and doing nothing are two styles of vacation.
You return to where you came from.
What Is Nomad Life?
Nomad Life is none of these things. And if you do 2, 3, and 4 every day during Nomad Life, it’s simply not sustainable. Actually, you might take a vacation during your Nomad Life. I know, it’s a head scratcher, isn’t it?
When you’re deciding to be a nomad, you’ve got to understand what Nomad Life is. It’s the life you used to have, but now you fill it with travel-oriented things. But in betwen the travel, you still pay bills, eat healthy foods, exercise, call your family, and watch a bit of Netflix.
But what you also do, endlessly, is plan. Plan. Plan. Plan. Every night, every meal, every walk to the grocery and, yes, even every trip, requires your nomad brain to figure out these elements of Nomad Life every day. Nothing is routine. Nothing is common. Nothing is easy.
You’ll Build Nomad Life Muscles and Tools
It all gets easier once you’ve got Nomad Muscles, but until then, it’s hard.
Nomad Life requires tools you may have used in the past, but now you’ll be using the advanced features of all those tools. During Nomad Life, you’ll know every feature of Google Maps, your cell phone and all of its settings, and Google Flights’ most secret options. Travel Agents won’t be able to keep up with you.
