So Many Questions, We Hope to Help
Although it’s been almost 5 years since we launched our Nomad Life, we still think about the period before we launched. It was an exciting time. And nerve-wrecking. And question-filled.
At the time we launched, there weren’t many other Nomad Lifers. The Digital Nomad Revolution was in its infancy. After all, Covid wasn’t even a word yet. There were a few heros out there (Brent and Michael, The Senior Nomads, and 43BlueDoors), but there certainly wasn’t any real community out there like now, which includes the pioneers above and The Midlife Nomad, Nomad Life, Full-time Nomad, Retirement Travelers, Footnote by McMahon and How Bill Rolls.
When the movie Nomadland came out, the term “nomad” started entering the pop-culture lexicon. Its release coincided with our launch timeline, and we had to go into explanation mode that Yes, we could afford to travel, and No, we weren’t making tough die or survive decisions about our life.
None the less, we had tons of questions. Many of them we had to work through ourselves, because, alas, there were few people to reach out to ask (see above.)

Nomad Treats
Each month, we recommend two things from our packing list.
When we’re in a country where we can’t drink the tap water (Mexico, I’m looking at you), we use our filtering straws. This saves us a ton of money on water, but the better reason we get it? Fewer plastic bottles.
We adore this extension cord. We plug it into an adaptor and then plug the adaptor into the wall. We charge all of our devices in one spot. This eliminates us having to crawl behind couches, deal with plugs falling out of the walls, and carrying multiple adaptors for each country.
Tip of the Month
From Chris’ Library
I maintain a book list of travel writing books and/or books set in a destination. There are over 150 books on it. I add to it monthly. Click here to see it.
I read this book a year ago, but I still think about it. What if you found out your family had history in coffee in the place that coffee came from? And you had to go taste it? And there’s a war going on? And it’s life and death? Don’t miss the Monk of Mohka by Dave Eggers, a thrilling adventure—the best kind of travel writing!
Let Me Get to Know You
P.S. Enjoy this quick video of the Salsa Verde we made in Washington DC from the tomatillos we found.

Heroes, huh? Not sure it's true, but I'll take it! Great comprehensive write-up!
What a terrific post! You are the encyclopedia of all things nomad life! And the Monk of Mokha is one of my favorite books. Absolutely amazing story and even with all of its challenges, it convinced us that we want to travel to Yemen one day.
